弓弽 Yugake – The Glove

The glove is probably the first major purchase for a Kyudoka. It will ideally accompany you for decades. A good fit is very important.

We offer you various options for ordering the glove:

1. Standard: There is a selection of standard gloves in stock, available in sizes 3 to 11 in different quantities. The advantage: it is the most economical option, the disadvantage: not all Kyudoka have standard hands.
2. Semi-custom: You send us a copy of your hand (instructions below) and the glove maker adjusts a prefabricated glove to your measurements. The advantage: the fit is significantly better, the disadvantage: it takes a little longer.
3. Full-custom: Based on the copy, the glove is completely new and made to measure. All wishes regarding material and color can be implemented. The advantage: everything is done according to your preferences, the disadvantage: long delivery time.

Creating a photocopy of the hand

The glove maker works based on a photocopy of your hand. Please place your hand loosely on a photocopier, do not press. It is best to place a cloth over the hand and glass surface of the copier. Important: place a ruler, tape measure, or similar object next to the hand so that the scaling can be checked.

The hand should be well outlined, and the outer line should be clearly visible (my example is actually not very good in this regard).

For 3 fingers (Mitsugake), take the following measurements:

1. Circumference of the wrist at the wrist crease (Rascetta)

2. Circumference at the base crease of the thumb, approximately 5 mm above the base joint of the thumb

3. Circumference at the base of the thumb at the tip joint

4. Circumference at the base crease of the index finger

5. Circumference at the middle joint crease of the index finger

6. Circumference at the base crease of the middle finger

7. Circumference at the middle joint crease of the middle finger

10. Circumference of the hand at the linea mensalis and linea cephalica

For 4 fingers (Yotsugake), additionally:

8. Circumference at the base crease of the ring finger

9. Circumference at the middle joint crease of the ring finger
