Bow (Yumi) & Co

Generally, the arc length is chosen depending on the individual draw length. You can find a guideline here:

If you're on the edge, for example, with a 90 cm draw length, then a beginner should rather choose a Nisun-Nobi, while an advanced Kyudoka can shoot very well with a Namisun too.

In our range, there are 3 groups of bows: fiberglass, carbon, and bamboo.

What are the differences?

Considering the 3 bows at the same length and with the same draw weight, we can describe the following general characteristics:

What bow strength suits me? Please always discuss this with your trainer as they know your development and potential. A rule of thumb for beginners is for women '(height – 100) / 6' and for men '(height – 100) / 5.5'.

For example: (165 cm – 100) / 6 = 10.8 or (180 cm – 100) / 5.5 = 14.5.

Later on, this formula changes. We recommend trying out different materials and strengths to find the ideal bow strength. This depends on technical development.

The bows we offer are measured at 85 cm for Namisun, 90 cm for Nisun-Nobi, and 95 cm for Yonsun-Nobi draw length.

A rule of thumb is, for every 5 cm of draw length, adjust the draw weight by 1 kg more or less.

The performance of shooting is always a combination of bow, string, arrow, and Kyudoka!
